 The article analyzes the victimization of women and women's murders through the lens of the theory of symbolic violence by Pierre Bourdieu. Honor killings have been investigated in migrant communities across Europe as a specific form of gender-related cultural killings. The function of direct violence against women as a patriarchal response is emphasized.
